Spring 2018 is just the beginning of the landscaping design season for many in the Northern New Jersey area. As winter hung out a little longer than expected, many are just getting to their spring clean up on their commercial property as we approach the beginning of May. So, what commercial landscaping design trends can you look to for inspiration for your property?

2018 Landscaping Design Trends:

  1. Design for Function: This year you’ll see more areas set aside on commercial property for use by employees of the building. Spaces between buildings, courtyard areas, and any unused areas of the property are being turned into sitting areas, with benches, fountains, and areas for employees to unwind on their break.
  2. Vibrant Colors and Patterns: 2018 has seen more of a push towards colors with landscape design and less toward the minimalist greenery of prior years. Think bright flowers like violet, verbena, canna, grape hyacinths etc. Ultra Violet has been dubbed the 2018 Color of the year, so keep purples in mind when planning.
  3. Restoring Natural Habitats: Creating beautiful, convenient landscapes for your commercial property can easily coincide with creating a convenient landscape for bees and butterflys that are losing their habitats. Consider adding plants or shrubbery that can help keep populations of these species fed and with a full supply of pollen. As your landscaper for ideas.
