The reason we start talking to our clients about snow removal so early in the season is so they can be sure to prepare all of their surfaces before the first snowfall. It’s essential to go into the winter months with a prepared property so we can do our job and keep your business open through all the snowstorms. Here are some steps to take early in the season to prepare your property for future snow removal.

  1. Before the first snow, we like to make sure we have done a walk through with our clients to survey the property. We suggest putting stakes anywhere there are driveways, sidewalks, and landscaping. This prevents a snowplow or shovel from ruining any landscaping when it is time for snow removal.
  2. Any cracks that are already in the pavement or sidewalk will most likely get worse over the winter. When water seeps into the cracks and it freezes it will expand and make the issue worse. We suggest repairing any issues to prevent additional cracks or widening of current cracks. This will also save you money in the long run so you don’t have to do large repairs!
  3. Don’t forget your roof and gutters! There can be drainage issues that could create a large build-up of ice. Any extra weight on a roof is bad news so be sure not to skip this step.
  4. Plan ahead! Even though there isn’t snow in the forecast we suggest starting now to find the best snow removal company. Take your time choosing a company, the cheapest pricing doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting a deal- you might end up paying for it in the long run.
