Experience is One of Our Biggest Assets

Besides our extensive array of snow removal equipment, our largest asset when it comes to snow removal is our experience. We have the experience to understand the: types of snow fall, weather conditions, ice melt and re-freezing probabilities that are undoubtable to complicate the safety of your commercial parking lot. As you can see, there are facets in snow removal that are more complicated than just showing up once and piling snow in the corner of a parking lot.

Winter storms can turn into formidable challenges for any seasoned snow removal company. That’s why we keep extra attention on every storm to correctly dispatch our resources where they are needed. When a larger storm hits or snow fall extends longer than expected, this can overwhelm a part-time smaller snow removal operation. If a snow removal operation can’t service your property after a snow fall or are very slow to react, you may be re-considering hiring them this upcoming season.

Are you unhappy with the performance of your snow removal company last winter? Give DeCarlo and Ontime Snowplowing a chance to provide your business with quick and professional snow removal services.

We would like to thank all of our longstanding snow removal customers. When you have been removing snow for over 30 years, you can anticipate and react to customers’ needs quickly and efficiently.

Understanding the Snow Removal Process

The process of removing snow is more complicated and involved than you may realize. As always we strive for efficiency and the highest levels of customer service. In our efforts to serve your business needs, we pay high attention to the removal of snow and ice to keep your business property open for business and safe for employees and customers. Since each parking lot is different, we want to ensure that there is a level of preparation prior to actually removing snow and ice. Here are some steps we take to ensure that your property is removed of any snow and ice related hazards.

Curb and Island Marking: Prior to snow removal, we make sure that curbs and parking lot islands are surveyed. This ensures that they aren’t damaged in the snow removal process.

Walkways and Entrances: We note all access points to your property and ensure they are attended to after a snow storm. This helps in planning for how much time we assign to the snow removal and de-icing for your property.

Snow Placement: So where does all the snow go? Before our plows start pushing the snow any which way, we make sure there is a plan for where the snow can be piled. If there are many storms in a season and limited melt time, snow can pile up fast and pose problems for parking and visibility. Having a plan before the snow comes is how we keep snow buildup manageable.

Snow Removal Isn’t One Size Fits All

It’s been said that delivering your product to correctly satisfy your client’s needs is what customer service is all about. We don’t see snow removal the same for every business. Some business parking lots have limited area to pile snow. Other properties need to be cleared from snow 24/7. Other properties are in high traffic areas or experience snow pushback from other plows on a highway. All these scenarios require different snow removal attention.

For example a mall needs more equipment and a staging area for snow pileup. This may be different for a small lot for a restaurant, where maximizing every space is of importance.

We attempt to understand your specific property needs and then correlate such with our snow removal processes. Is your business open on weekends? What are your normal business hours? Are there 24 hour active driveways or receiving docs that need to be cleared before anything else? Does snow need to be removed offsite?

Prior to each quote for snow removal services, we will take all these considerations into account to maximize our customer service, so we can match your snow removal needs with our capabilities.

Are you Happy with your Snow removal company?

At this point, you are probably either happy with your snow removal contractor or very frustrated. This past 2014-2015 winter season brought a high frequency of snow storms and local New Jersey/New York snow removal companies were put to the test. If your snow removal contractor was too small and not adequately equipped to handle the storms, you are probably considering finding a new contractor for the 2015-2016 snow removal season.

Customer service and on time service is our top priority with managing our snow removal clients. Unlike other snow removal companies in the NYC metro area, we will not overload ourselves with accounts to the point where we can’t properly service them all. Our goal is to provide exceptional snow removal service for each and every account, regardless of the size and scope of services.

Now is the time, even if the snow is still melting, to reach out and speak with our snow account specialist about the 2015-2016 snow plow season. We will provide your company with an accurate quote. Therefore, you have time to decide if you are keeping your current snow plow contractor, or switch over to DeCarlo Landscapes for your snow removal services.

Salt or No Salt?

When snow is forecasted, people start to go out and stock up on salt. How much do you actually know about what salt should or shouldn’t be used for? Take our quiz below and see what you really know about salt!

  1. The forecast says 1-2 inches of snow are predicted. Salt or No Salt
  2. Freezing rain is anticipated. Salt or No Salt
  3. Rock Salt is safe for all surfaces. True or False
  4. My pets won’t be harmed by my rock salt. True or False

Answers: 1. SALT 2. NO SALT 3. FALSE 4. FALSE

If you answered all of the questions correct, then CONGRATULATIONS you are on your game about salt! If you had a couple wrong, here are some explanations for our answers.

  1. Salt is generally used for small accumulations, when put down before the snow it prevents the snow from sticking. However, using salt for larger amounts of snow can make it more difficult, turning the under layer of snow to heavy mush which is harder to shovel.
  2. Many assume that ice will no doubt accumulate after a freezing rain, and while correct to a point, usually the rain will wash the salt away!
  3. There are many types of salt, If you’re unsure which type you should be using you must do some research. Rock salt is only considered “safe” for asphalt, on concrete and on other surfaces, this type of salt can become damaging.
  4. Paws can quickly become irritated and injured from certain types of salt. If you have pets opt for a pet safe salt. They are just as effective and can work at temperatures as low as 10 degrees.

As professionals and experts on the topic of salting, we at DeCarlo Landscapes take no chances when it comes to snow and ice management. We make certain we apply the appropriate salt for the appropriate conditions, ensuring you and yours the safety you deserve from your snow removal company.
